Pre-Certification Guidance:
Congratulations on taking this step in your Reiki Journey. I am honored that you have placed your trust with Trinity Lane. As you prepare for your upcoming Reiki Certification, here are some simple practices you can do to help prepare you for this experience and energy shift.
The following practices are about gently clearing, grounding, and setting intentions. There is no right or wrong. Please use this however you feel guided to do so. You may choose to do all, some or none. Either way, the placements and ignitions will still work. Trust in the process as you become open and aware of the healing energy of Reiki. Reiki will always meet you where you are at.
1. Set a Clear Intention - Reiki responds beautifully to intention.
Ask yourself:
Why am I seeking this certification?
What am I ready to release?
What am I ready to embody?
You can write this down and bring it with you or meditate on it daily in the week prior.
2. Light Physical & Energetic Cleansing - Nothing extreme—gentle is powerful.
Seven Days Before:
Schedule an appointment through Trinity Lane’s scheduling page for your free 20-minute session at some point during the week leading up to your certification class. This can be in-person or virtual. Use coupon code student20 when scheduling.
Drink plenty of water
Eat lighter, whole foods and vegetables if possible.
Try to limit (omit if you can) alcohol, heavily processed foods, heavy meats, caffeine, and dairy.
Spend time in nature
Practice grounding exercises, such as walking barefoot outside (as weather allows), meditation, breathwork.
Practice Affirmations such as: “I am open, ready, and aligned to receive Reiki for my highest good.” or any similar affirmation you see fit.
Practice Meditations focusing on:
· Hands at Heart Center and breathe in thoughts of love and openness.
· Hands at top of head and breathe in thoughts of receiving divine energy.
· Hands together in prayer and breathe in thoughts of Gratitude.
· Journal anything that feels heavy with intention to forgive and release:
· Forgive where you can (including yourself)
· Release expectations about what the experience “should” be. Trust the process.
Three Days Before:
· Continue with above.
· I will begin to send you distance Reiki in preparation for our class. The intention of this is to begin to raise your energetic vibration and prepare you for your placements and ignitions. Please be aware that it is possible to feel a wide variety of emotions or physical symptoms as negative energy is released. This may include a variety of positive or negative emotions or physical symptoms. Please see above recommendations should any uncomfortable sensations arise and please do not hesitate to reach out to me at 617-548-3063 with any questions or concerns.
Day before:
- Continue with above.
Take an Epsom salt bath (or just shower if you don’t have a tub and visualize all you are releasing flowing down the drain) (optional but helpful)
5. Rest - The most overlooked step. Be well-rested the night before. A regulated nervous system receives energy more smoothly.
6. Day Of the Certification
Wear comfortable clothing
Arrive hydrated and rested
Trust the process. Trust your intuition.
Your journey is very individual. Reiki will meet you where you are at. Do not compare your experience to anyone else’s.
The above recommendations are not mandatory. These tips helps your nervous system to be calm and receptive. Reiki will still work regardless of anything you do or do not do.
Remember…Reiki is the essence of getting back to your authentic self and thus the essence of getting back to pure love.
You are not “earning” Reiki. You are remembering it.

Congratulations on completing your Reiki Certification! I am grateful and honored that you have placed your trust with Trinity Lane.
After Reiki certifications—especially Level II or Master attunements—it’s very common to feel a wide range of emotions. This varies from person to person. Some students have reported feelings of spacey, emotional, extra sensitive, tired, or even wired, vivid dreams, tingling, and/or feeling detached. Gentle grounding practices integrate the energy and assist with the energy shifts that are taking place.
The following practices are about gently clearing and grounding. Grounding supports clarity, stability, and full embodiment of this new level of energy. There is no right or wrong way. Please use this however you feel guided to do so. You may choose to do all, some or none of the following grounding practices. Trust in the process as you allow Reiki to meet you where you are at.
Some different types of grounding methods and examples are as follows:
Physical Grounding:
1. Eat grounding foods: Root vegetables (sweet potatoes, carrots, beets); Protein (eggs, beans, chicken); Warm soups or stews. Better if warmer.
- Avoid too much sugar or caffeine right after placements
2. Drink water (with minerals if possible)
- Add a pinch of sea salt
- Lemon water helps rebalance
3. Barefoot on the earth: If able to place bare feet in grass, sand, or dirt for 10 to 20 minutes. You can also visualize roots growing from your feet
4. Shower or bath: particularly Epsom salt bath. Visualize excess energy washing off and going down drain.
5. Gentle movement: slow yoga, walking in nature, light stretching
6. Hug a tree or sit against one
Trees are incredibly stabilizing energetically.
Nervous System Grounding:
7. The 5-4-3-2-1 Technique:

4 things you feel
3 things you hear
2 things you smell
1 thing you taste
8. Slow breathing: Inhale for 4 seconds. Hold for 5 seconds. Exhale for 6 seconds. (modify as needed)
9. Cold water on wrists or face.
10. Hold something heavy. (safely within your own limits) examples: A stone, dumbbell, or rest with a weighted blanket.
Energetic Grounding:
11. Root chakra visualization: Imagine red light at the base of your spine anchoring into the earth.
12. Reiki self-treatment on feet: Place hands on soles of feet, ankles, or knees
13. Say aloud: “I call my energy fully back into my body.” Or other grounding mantra
14. Sweep your aura downward: Use hands or selenite wand to brush energy from head down toward feet.
15. Wear grounding crystals. Examples of grounding crystals include:
-Hematite
-Black tourmaline
-Smoky quartz
Mental/Emotional Grounding:
16. Journal what came up during your class. Especially include emotions, physical sensations and symbols or visions.
17. Rest: Placements and Ignitions are energetic upgrades. Sleep helps integration.
Avoid doing more intense energy work for 24–48 hours.
18. Clean your space: Physical organization supports energetic stabilization.
Nature Based Grounding:
19. Sit in silence outside. Even 10 minutes.
20. Garden: Hands in soil is a very powerful way of grounding.
22. Watch water (river, ocean, lake)
Water regulates energy naturally.
Integration is not something to push. It is something to allow. Be gentle with yourself. Trust the process. Your body knows how to receive this energy safely.
